Wayne Clifton Honoured at ACEC National Awards Event

The Association of Consulting Engineering Companies (ACEC) announced that Saskatchewan’s Wayne Clifton, P.Eng., M.Sc., D.Sc., President of Clifton Associates is the recipient of the 2017 Beaubien Award.  Clifton accepted the prestigious award at ACEC’s National Canadian Consulting Engineering Awards gala in Ottawa Tuesday night. 
 
Recipients are selected by their peers, based on their lifetime contributions to ACEC and the advancement of the consulting engineering industry.  The award was created by ACEC in 1984 in honour of Dr. James de Gaspé Beaubien, who founded ACEC in 1925.
 
Clifton began his career in 1966, and established the Saskatchewan based company, Clifton Associates in 1978, which has grown to be the largest independent consulting company headquartered in the province with six offices and 250 staff across Saskatchewan and Alberta.
 
The name, Wayne Clifton, is synonymous with “solutions”, be it provincially, nationally or internationally.  His knowledge and experience addressing difficult geotechnical and environmental engineering challenges propelled him to be clients’ preferred choice.  
 
A consensus builder, Clifton’s skills were  
needed during Regina’s $18 million, Wascana Lake “Big Dig”.  He engaged all levels of government, community leaders, environmental activists and the community at large to complete the project to the satisfaction of all involved. 

Clifton is recognized for his efforts to promote the consulting industry. He is a Past Chair of ACEC-SK , Past President of APEGS , Director on both the ACEC and the Engineers Canada Boards and the recipient of ACEC-SK’s 2003 Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan Meritorious Achievement Award
 
Wayne Clifton’s involvement in his community is extensive, and more recently has contributed to the implementation of Saskatchewan’s Environmental Code as well as serving on numerous national advisory councils and boards.

The Association of Consulting Engineering Companies - Saskatchewan (ACEC-SK) is a non-profit association representing the majority of consulting engineering and consulting geoscience firms in Saskatchewan.
