The 2016 Brian Eckel Memorial Scholarship Award recipient is Sarah Keene. 

Sarah Keene is a civil engineering student at the University of Saskatchewan currently on an internship position at the Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure.Sarah grew up in Saskatoon attending Holy Cross where she was awarded the Governor General’s Award, which is given to the student with the highest overall average each year.

After graduation, she went straight into the College of Engineering at the University of Saskatchewan. She has completed three years of her Civil Engineering degree. She plays a wide variety of sports that keep her busy most nights, but in her free time she also enjoys reading and spending time with friends.

Throughout her life Sarah has also had the opportunity to volunteer for several organizations. These include coaching youth sports teams, as well as helping out at the Nutana Legion. In 2016 she was an Employee Campaign Chair for the United Way Campaign. This came with the responsibility of creating and organizing several fundraisers for her office, which included approximately 100 employees. Through this campaign, she was able surpass the initial goal and raise $4,500, as well as raising awareness of the United Way organization.

Sarah plans to finish her Engineering degree and pursue work in the industry, while staying involved in the community through both sports and volunteering.
