The 2017 Association of Consulting Engineering Companies - Saskatchewan (ACEC-SK) Mentor Award recipient is William (Bill) James Wright, P.Eng.

Bill Wright, a 1980 University of Saskatchewan B.Sc. (Civil Engineering) graduate, began his 36 year career with Catterall & Wright. Recently retired, Wright is recognized throughout the province for his engineering impact on numerous communities. As a Principal Engineer in a consulting practice he excelled in many difference roles including design engineer, business manager and mentor.

He embodied all the essential skills of an excellent mentor, supporting team members through intellectual growth, career development, professional guidance and advocacy.  Demonstrating a commitment to advancing their careers, he encouraged his mentees to develop strong and creative problem-solving abilities and insisted on practical solutions that kept the needs of clients in mind.

Wright is widely respected for his high ethical and moral standards.  He always demonstrated fairness in management, offering honest discipline and productive criticism when necessary.  He was a valuable soundingboard when difficult situations arose, consistently offering advice based on honesty and integrity.

A former new colleague and recipient of Wright’s guidance recently stated, “Bill has provided me with knowledge and support that cannot be found in books or through time in school.  He speaks using his years of experience as a guideline, and to a junior engineer this is beyond valuable.  When I talk to Bill, I feel like I have access to knowledge that would take me 25+ years to gain on my own.”

This is high praise indeed for the respected and deserving recipient of the 2017 Mentor Award, William (Bill) James Wright, P.Eng.
