Spring 2026 Legislative Framework Training Workshop in Saskatoon
The objective of the Legislative Framework Training (LFT) workshop is to provide a better understanding of Saskatchewan’s construction legislation and regulations for the successful application of the National Building Code of Canada 2020 (NBC) and the National Energy Code of Canada for Buildings 2020. The LFT workshop is open to a broad range of stakeholders at no cost. Workshop topics include:
NBC 2020, Division A, Part 2 – Objectives
NBC 2020, Division A, Part 3 – Functional Statements
NBC 2020, Division C – Administrative Provisions
The Administrative Requirements for Use with the National Building Code of Canada, 1985
Building Bylaw and Enforcement Guide, complete with Model Building Bylaw
Alternative Solutions
It will be held in person in Saskatoon on April 29 and 30, 2026. Visit the Building and Technical Standards Course page to register and see other courses available.
Workshops on Zoning and Building Requirements
Community Planning and Building and Technical Standards branches will be delivering a series of joint workshops across Saskatchewan in late April/early May 2026. These sessions will focus on why the zoning and building bylaws matter rather than how they are approved and highlight key responsibilities of local authorities.
Workshops are open to anyone interested, including elected officials, administrators and community members and run from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break. Coffee and tea are provided; please bring your own lunch.
Workshops will be held in:
- Weyburn – April 28, 2026
- Melville – April 29, 2026
- Humboldt – April 30, 2026
- Swift Current – May 5, 2026
- Kindersley – May 6, 2026
- North Battleford – May 7, 2026
