Environment/Water Resources Committee Report December 2019

 

The Environment/Water Resources Committee engages with client groups that impact the work of consulting engineers in this sector.

On December 10, the Committee Chair met with the Honourable Lori Carr, Minister of Government Relations, to discuss the benefits of regionalization, and upcoming government funding projects for municipal works.  At that meeting, information was shared about the imminent release of a detailed application intake process launched for two funding streams under the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP), which runs until 4:30 p.m. CST, Tues., March 31, 2020 for the:

Eligible recipients are encouraged to submit their detailed applications for priority infrastructure projects that will result in at least one of the following outcomes:

Members of the committee traveled to Moose Jaw earlier in the month to meet with SaskWater and Water Security Agency.  Among the topics discussed were requirements for upcoming Waterworks System Assessments, impacts of lead piping, and commitment to proceed with another Forum with Water Security Agency in the spring of 2020.  Watch future newsletters as details unfold.

As well, the committee is in the planning phase of a Landfills workshop with multiple stakeholders.  Details should be available soon.
