Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) is pleased to announce that the Landfill Methane Regulations were officially published in the Canada Gazette, Part II on December 31, 2025. Information on the Regulations is available on the LMR webpage.
ECCC also finalized updates to the Technical Guidance Document on Estimating, Measuring and Monitoring Landfill Methane and the accompanying Landfill Methane Modelling Tool. These documents are referenced in the Regulations and provide guidance on the quantification, measurement and monitoring methods included the new regulations. These resources can be accessed via the LMR Google drive – a repository of documents that has been established to provide access to documents and tools referenced in the Regulations and to support awareness of regulatory requirements.
We would also like to remind you about the upcoming webinar, which will provide an overview of these Regulations. For an optimal experience, ECCC recommends using the latest version of MS Teams.
