Are you ready to enhance your surveying skills with practical, real-world training?
Join us for an in-depth Survey Camp Workshop that combines classroom instruction with hands-on fieldwork. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced professional, this workshop will provide valuable insights into pre-project, project, and post-project surveying techniques.

Classroom Module Overview
8:30-9:00 am – Registration
Module 1: Objective – Preparation – 9:00 – 9:30am
- Gather information: Design notes, cross-sections, plan profiles, alignments, and schedule A’s
- Control: Control points, UTM zones, and geodetics.
- Supplies: Pins, pin finder, lathe, hubs, flagging, paint, and traffic accommodation
Module 2: Objective – Pre-Project Surveying – 9:30-10:00am
- Design Survey Requirements: Cross sections, topography changes requiring more information, survey codes, establishing control.
- Construction Survey Requirements: Checking control and legal pins, comparing design to existing, additional pick up, and control line.
Coffee Break 10:00 – 10:20am
Module 3: Objective – Project Surveying – 10:20 – 11:30am
- Grading: slope staking, stripping pickup, second grades, over-grading, and break lines.
- Surfacing (Subbase/Base/AC): slope indicators, width stakes, balance grading, trims, and spike line.
- Culvert Installations: Drainage surveys and plugging a culvert.
- Miscellaneous: Project tie ins, approaches, haul – additional earth sources, and utilities.
Module 4: Objective – Post Project Surveying – 11:30 -12:00pm
- As-builts: Data management best practices
Lunch 12:00 – 12:45pm
Field Work – 12:45-2:30pm
Coffee Break 2:30-2:45pm
Field Work 2:30-4:30pm
Professional Development Certificates will be issued to everyone who attends the workshop.
