ACEC-SK proudly congratulates Caden Thiessen, a third-year Chemical Engineering student at the University of Saskatchewan, as the 2025 recipient of the Brian Eckel Memorial Scholarship.
Caden embodies the leadership, service, and academic excellence that the scholarship celebrates. As President of the Chemical Engineering Student Society (ChESS), he leads with energy and integrity—supporting his peers, promoting collaboration, and strengthening the student engineering community. He also serves as a mentor for first-year engineering students, helping them navigate the transition into university life and develop confidence as future engineers.
Beyond campus, Caden demonstrates a deep commitment to community service. He actively volunteers through St. Anthony’s Church, the Lloydminster Minor Hockey Association, and a local youth football program, where he teaches young athletes the value of teamwork and perseverance. His dedication to giving back reflects the spirit of the profession and the legacy of leadership this award represents.

First presented in 2003, the Brian Eckel Memorial Scholarship honours the memory of Brian Eckel, P.Eng., a respected industry and community leader whose career exemplified excellence, mentorship, and service. Established by colleagues, educators, friends, and family, the scholarship recognizes a University of Saskatchewan College of Engineering student who demonstrates strong academic achievement and community involvement — values that Brian Eckel championed throughout his life and career.
