The Association of Consulting Engineering Companies – Saskatchewan (ACEC-SK) honoured Lawrence Pinter, P.Eng., as the 2024 recipient of the prestigious Lieutenant Governor Meritorious Achievement Award at their annual Awards of Distinction on November 19, 2024, in Saskatoon, SK.

Lawrence Pinter was an exceptional candidate for the Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan Meritorious Achievement Award due to his extensive contributions to the consulting engineering and geoscience industry, both technically and managerially. His accomplishments include: 

  • Career Contributions: With over 30 years in geoenvironmental engineering, Lawrence founded PINTER & Associates Ltd., growing it into a successful firm with over 25 employees before his retirement in 2023. His expertise spans municipal infrastructure, water treatment, solid waste management, and environmental engineering. 
  • Innovation Leadership: Lawrence spearheaded several industry firsts in Saskatchewan, including the first environmental assessment of a First Nation Reserve, the introduction of direct push rig technology, and the development of the first commercial passive reactive barrier for fertilizer contamination. His company received numerous awards for innovative projects such as ozone-assisted biofiltration for water treatment and enhanced bioremediation techniques.
  • Community and Professional Involvement: Lawrence has demonstrated a deep commitment to giving back. He has volunteered extensively with professional organizations such as APEGS and SEIMA and actively mentored future engineers. He also supported community initiatives, including sponsoring awards at the University of Saskatchewan’s Engineering Design Showcase. 
  • Mentorship and Diversity Advocacy: As a recognized mentor, Lawrence received the 2018 ACEC-SK Mentor Award. He fostered an inclusive work environment, promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion within his firm, hiring employees from diverse backgrounds, including First Nations and LGBTQIA2S+ communities. 
  • Commitment to Safety: Lawrence turned a personal experience with a workplace accident into a lifelong commitment to safety, advocating for best practices and delivering powerful presentations on workplace safety.

Lawrence’s significant technical achievements, leadership in innovation, and dedication to mentorship and community make him a deserving recipient of this prestigious award.
